ABOUT JEAN CORCORAN, Ph.D.

Dr. Corcoran is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She teaches courses at the doctoral level that include Interviewing, Ethics and Psychopathology.

 

Prior to her work in Psychology, she was a Psychiatric Nurse in New York and Texas. She has masters degrees in Psychology and Gerontology as well as her Ph.D. in Psychology. In the courses she teaches and in her clinical work her interests are centered on interpersonal communication and relationship-building. She consults with teams, individuals and students on related topics.

 

Dr. Corcoran brings to presentations the scientific perspective on how to manage challenges, change and stress, and she does this in a practical, down-to-earth manner. She has the ability to bring clarity and understanding to complex issues, while helping the audience translate these concepts to the real-world. Her approachable style and natural use of humor help audiences grasp the significance of the topic being taught. Her expertise and experience help to build a natural bridge between protocol and knowledge of human behavior.

 

Jean is available for full-day presentations with Suzanne Boswell. The courses they team-teach include "Managing Maalox Moments", "The Cohesive Team", "Managing 5 Team Dysfunctions" and "Investigating Interdisciplinary Issues."
